City of Dreams

Slated to surpass Las Vegas as the premier gaming destination in the world, Macau has taken many giant steps forward to support the theory. First settled circa 1550 by the Portugese, Macau has come a long way from its original roots.
With only forty miles separating Macau from Hong Kong, more and more people are taking ferry transportation over to see what the big deal is all about. Once a shipping harbor and sleepy fishing village, hotels in Macau have sprung up all over and now dominate much of the landscape. Macau hotels and casinos have proved to be a multibillion dollar industry and Macau gambling is the star.

There used to be only one man who monopolized the success of Macau until he was forced to share the wealth in 2002. For forty-two years Stanley Ho forged an entertainment and gambling empire on Macau. Today he’s surely impressed by one of the latest and most exciting additions to Macau, the City of Dreams, a venture he’s involved in of course. One look at the blueprints for the City of Dreams Macau evokes a feeling of complete awe. The NASDAQ-listed corporation Melco PBL Entertainment has delved into yet another monumental project in the City of Dreams Casino and the many other successful ventures which will be located inside.

The entertainment and casino resort, City of Dreams, will have an oceanic theme described as based on Atlantis. The City of Dreams Casino will feature the aquatic exposition while four luxury hotels in Macau, upon completion, will call City of Dreams Macau their new home. The upcoming hotels will include the Hard Rock Hotel, the Hyatt Regency, the Grand Hyatt and the Crown Towers. With such a massive undertaking, the City of Dreams will kick off as a two-faceted project. The City of Dreams Casino and the Hard Rock Hotel will be introduced in the initial phase expected to be complete later on in 2008.

The City of Dreams Casino is anticipated to be one of the largest Macau attractions comprising 40,000 square meters of water-theme gaming space complete with 450 gaming tables and more then 3,000 of the latest slot machines. In addition to the massive casino, the City of Dreams Macau plans include more than 80,000 square feet of retail space which will make it the top shopping destination in Macau. The City of Dreams will also showcase a world-class theater, appropriately named Theater of Dreams. Plans to feature the most exciting Macau shows around will see tickets for the 1,700 seats sell out in lightening speed.

The hotels in Macau planning to open inside the entertainment complex are anticipated to fill up quickly from opening day and beyond. The incredible financial growth in Macau is almost unbelievable. Chinese and foreigners alike have literally been flocking to Macau. Macau tours are on th rise and the areas of Taipa Island and Coloane are also seeing major increases in tourists. The City of Dreams location is nearby many other exciting casinos like the MGM Grand which has 300 tables and more than 1,000 slots! You might also find Lady Luck at The Sands where  there are almost 500 gaming tables including poker, baccarat and many other games to play. Almost 1,000 modern slot machines appeal to those who love the thrill of this popular way to gamble.

The City of Dreams will be just as its name says, a place of dreams. The underwater theme will add an additional and soulful element to the complex, complete with lively marine life all about. Much like the exciting Macau Studio City project, the City of Dreams is a venture millions are looking forward to. The incredible opportunity for both tourists and investors is creating a hype in Macau that shows no signs of slowing down. From a sleepy fishing village to a major global gaming destination, Macau’s future is shining brightly.
